Completely Practical Home Pizza Ovens
Home Pizza Ovens are becoming ever more popular. There are a wide range of types ranging from a simple baking stone which you put in your oven through to the made on site large brick built wood fired pizza ovens. The latter can be built to your own specification and plans - obviously not a budget option but a real stunner of an oven when completed and with a wide range of uses as well as baking sublime pizza. The countertop indoor varieties of home pizza ovens such as the Deni, Red Just Pizza and the Pizzazz contain ceramic or thin stone tile inserts which crisp your bases whilst cooking the pizzas very quickly. Portable and smart, these tend to be the choice of busy moms or students with not a second to spare!! There are slightly bigger countertop versions such as the steel Biaggia which has a pull out drawer, this type is not really portable but a good choice in a larger kitchen. Or you can opt for a built in unit model if you prefer.
Lastly the queen, (or would that be king?) of the home pizza oven is the wood fired version. This can be a cast iron oven or a built on site version, using tradition methods of refractory cement, firebricks, stone or cob. These are an art form in themselves and can be very large or quite small, in the wall or freestanding versions - you will obviously need plenty of dry wood stock to burn with this kind of kind home pizza oven of course!. You will be mentally transported to Tuscany with the aroma of the wood smoke and the smell of pizza roasting next to you. You can acquire accessories such as pizza stones, pizza paddles and special cutting wheels and set up your own little pizza parlor for your family and friends. So, the next time you put a shop bought pizza on a plain old metal baking tray in your stove, think about the better options open to you - there are plenty and they dont need to cost you very much at all!
